Meet Zach
Zach Lary is a husband, father, businessman, and proud resident of Isle of Palms. He is running for City Council because he cares deeply about the long-term sustainability of the island, and balancing residents' quality of life with smart, sustainable economic growth.
Zach brings a results-driven, collaborative mindset to everything he does. He runs a successful commercial security company, owns a real estate investment company, and serves as a board member of the Isle of Palms Chamber of Commerce.

Most importantly, as a father of two, he sees how important thoughtful leadership is to ensure IOP remains a great place to live, work, and play.

Zach lives in Wild Dunes with his wife, Caitlin, and their daughters Prudence and Phoebe. Most weekends, you’ll find the Lary family on the water, at the beach, or simply riding around the island in the golf cart, enjoying island life.

Running Staunch Security, a successful commercial security company, gives Zach a true understanding how to combine strategic problem-solving, efficient operations, and consistent execution to achieve success. Since joining company leadership 8 years ago, Staunch has grown more than 500% and expanded from operations in 10 states to over 30. Zach demonstrates a proven ability to lead sustainable growth, navigate economic cycles, make data-driven decisions and resolve complex operational problems.
Active Chamber of Commerce Board Member
As a board member of the Isle of Palms Chamber of Commerce, Zach Lary works closely with the local business community and has a deep understanding of the industries that support the island’s economy. He knows what businesses need to succeed and is committed to ensuring that City Council provides that support. Since joining the IOP Chamber board, Zach has helped identify areas to improve upon, provided actionable solutions, and facilitated the execution of these solutions.
A Family Man Who Understands Island Life
Above all, Zach is a father and a husband, raising two young daughters on Isle of Palms. Quality of life outside of work is critical to him and his family. Zach understands the importance of residents' quality of life and balancing this with thoughtful economic growth. Zach is deeply invested in the community’s future—both as a parent and a businessman who calls the island home.
